well I was going thru some old photos and came across this one.. this is a five generation picture! My mom .My aunt Barbara holding me. Great grand~ ma Fox. Grandma Clawson.
wow..
anyway.. I got to thinking about the past.. My Great Grandma lived til she was 98 or so.. passing on in 1985.. same year that Grandma Clawson left.. Grandpa Clawson died in 1989. Both of them battled cancer and lost.. I have no idea what Great grand~ma died of.. old age I spose??
on the other side.. my dad's parents.. I unfortunatly don't remember too much of them.. Grandma Olson was a bitter old woman, that's all I really remember of her.. sad.. she died in 85 also.. stroke I believe..Grandpa O died in late 70's sometime or early 80's .. again.. not real sure when.. of a heart attack..He was a logger in his younger years.. and I do remember visiting him one time after he had a tree fall on a sappling and it bounced back and broke his neck. He had one of those halos on and I remember the screws.. they went straight into his head! was a horrible sight really.
all the Grandparents were not very old.. in late 60's and early 70's ..
I spent most of my summers with my mom's folks tho.. grandpa would take us for rides on his motorcycle or go fishing with us.. I would help grandma in her store where she taught me how to fold shirts the proper way for display on shelves..
and Grandpa would dig out the ice cream maker every time it hailed.. and we would run out to gather all the hail we could!
I remember huddling in the back closet during a tornado and then after it passed we got in the truck and drove around looking at the damage and the tornado was still on the ground .. we followed it in to the next town and watched it hit a car lot!
my earliest memory of me.. I was about four I spose.. and I was running in the house.. we lived in a trailor at the time .. had just moved to East Helena, Montana.. when I tripped and fell and hit my mouth on the coffee table , biting clean thru my tongue! Oh the pain! and I still have the scar!
we moved into town after a year in the trailor.. the church finally came up with a parsonage for us to live in.. and it was a lovely old house.. white with green shutters and trim.. and a huge monstrous old boiler in the basement.. the basement still had dirt floors too! We lived there for 7 or so years.. I resided in the attic.. and my room really didn't have a door.. just the door at the bottom of the stairs.. which was glass.. I went thru it one time chasing my brother out of my room and down the stairs.. he got there first and slammed the door.. oops.
that house is now a parking lot for the church.
My first date.. his name was Mike (?). we went to the ACDC concert.. I think I was in 10th grade at the time.. I remember dad saying I couldn't go til he heard what kind of music they played !! lol! I played him "rock and roll aint noise pollution" he disagreed..thought it was .. but I got to go!
My first kiss.. was back in Montana.. 8th grade.. Tom Debolt.. on the river bank.. shhhhh
My first boyfriend.. Russell Zubriski.. 9th grade.. Canada.. til we moved to the other end of the city .. and I didnt date again til out of high school! can ya believe it??(well other than the concert deal.. but we never dated really.. was more like friends..)
I loved track and volleyball and fast ball . I shattered my right knee in 7th grade.(in a hurdle race) didn't run again til 9th.. in 10th I started on the volleyball team and dropped track.. played ball for two years til my knee couldnt take it any more and then became the coach of the varsity team.. also played for the fast ball team in high school as the pitcher.. and a coed team as well during high school for McDonald's .. all the different McD's in Winipeg had a fast ball league.. kinda a north against south deal.. was fun really! but I quit all sports entirely in 11th grade.. my knee was startin to hurt bad.. I went to a doc and was determined I would need surgery on it.. I had no cartiledge left.. I still need that surgery.. and it has since been broken again.. (the last time I fell on it .. about 10 years or so ago)
I broke my shoulder in 8th grade while we still lived in Montana.. no one knew.. I never said anything.. but me and my friend Kathy were sitting on top of the monkey bars and she swung her arm out and it startled me.. I went over backwards.. I head it snap when I hit the ground. was very painful also! I don't know why I never told.. I just suffered thru it! I cannot lift my left arm over my head now.. . I just went on about my business and ate tylonal like they were candy for a while and kept my arm as immobile as possible..
Over the years I have broken my right knee (twice) my left shoulder, my left ankle(track accident), my left elbow(work related..old man at nursing home twisted my arm.. elbow just snapped!), my left wrist(track accident), a couple toes on my right foot(while rafting!) and my big toe on my left, ,my sternum (car wreck) and three ribs( work.. I worked at a nursing home and an old man got a bit violent at bathtime one day.. slammed me against wall)... and I have had stitches on my head twice.. first time I ran into a 5th wheel trailer hitch when I was 11 or so .. took like 13 stitches..second time was about 3 years back.. had a support brace fall and knock me down.. 9 staples.. I looked like the bride of Frankenstien.. which luckily was around Halloween so that's what I went as! lmao!)
now I hurt when the weather changes..all over. I abused my poor lil body!
When my son was born, the cord was wrapped around his neck.. and I nearly lost him.. I remember him being so small and frail.. and now he is almost 16.. omg!
My daughter.. she nearly came out before the doc was ready.. she was a little go getter! Head strong ! I remember her angel kiss on her forehead and the stork bite on the back of her neck and not a lick of hair on her lil head! and now she's 12
My first car: a 1968 Volkswagon Beetle eggshell colour..
and I couldn't really drive a stick then.. took me nearly a half hour to get out of the parking spot in the back of the house ! lmao!!!! (now I drive a stick.. love them! )
and gas was 89 cents a gallon.. and I could fill that bug up with 5 bucks and drive forever..
when did I get sooooo old?
